The 2006-2007 POI Students

Ivy Pan - POI winner 2006 Tzuyen Pan (aka Ivy)

Ivy is currently working full time as an RN, specializing in Maternal Child Health, and teaching piano her spare time. She is a graduate from Montgomery College in nursing and music.  Ivy has been a church pianist since she was eight year old.  She enjoys singing,  piano, choir, and conducting the youth orchestra for her church.  Ivy is interested in music education, and is hoping to go back to school next year to further her studies.

In her leisure time, she loves biking, hiking, jogging, going to different parks, sightseeing, traveling, and listening to music.  She has expressed her thanks that POI has given her this opportunity to learn organ and is sure this will be a great asset in her music career.

Ivy is studying with Tom Smith from Church of the Redeemer in Bethesda, Maryland.
Bobby Stubbs - POI winner 2006 Bobby Stubbs

Bobby is seventeen years old and an eleventh grader at Gonzaga College High School in Washington DC.  He began studying piano at age nine and organ at age 13.  Past organ teachers include Henry Bauer and Mary Lu Hartsell.

From sixth though eighth grade, Bobby was the accompanist for the children's choir at St. Jane de Chantal, where he played organ for the school masses.  He is now a member of the applied piano program at Gonzaga under the direction of Jeremy Young.  Bobby's one true passion is classical music.  He spends much of his free time listening to and attending concerts of music from all time periods.

Bobby has also enjoyed some past experiences with theater.  At age 12 he played a leading role in a production of South Pacific.  Last year he was a member of the ensemble in a Gonzaga Dramatic Association production of Guys and Dolls.  Bobby's one basic goal in life is to learn as much as he possibly can.

Bobby is currently studying piano with Carolyn Booth and organ with Ronald Stolk, DCAGO dean.
